days of being wild continues their collaboration with berlin based french producer franz matthews, releasing his first solo ep, the spacey, cosmic ostkreuz. half of the duo languages, whose 1st ep the label released at the end of last year, franz matthews explores a very different sound on his first solo effort, all space disco, retro synths and funky guitars out. title track ostkreuz has been road tested by the days of being wild crew on dance floors all around europe all of last year and has created euphoria and anticipation in equal measure. this is a cosmic hit from outer space, all constructed around well known ingredients that thanks to franz matthews musical and melodic talent rise here to epic heights. the b-side guns of rixdorf is another devastating peak time tune. while remaining in the same vein as ostkreuz, it feels more high energy with its irresistible funky guitars calling and responding over a driving bass. days of being wild always try to pair producers with remixers that will shed a new light on their work. its no exception with ostkreuz, who gets the reinvention treatment from no other than moscoman and rodion aka the claydermans. the cosmic vibe is still here hovering on top in the opening chords of the remix, but soon enough a sub, housier bass makes its way in the mix and wont let you go until the end. carried by shuffling claps and a bouncier beat, the groove here is totally re-invented, taking ostkreuz from peak time to the darker edges of after land.

iuly.b returns to visionquest this march with the surreal experience ep accompanied by a remix from bass cultures djulz. romanias iuly.b is rapidly becoming a household name in the realms of stripped-back, immersive house music of late, a regular feature on hectors vatos locos imprint and at the labels events, as well as releasing material on bouq, claque musique and of course visionquest where he returns to here following his observatory ep in november of 2016. this time round iuly.b launches the surreal experience with a murky, dub-tinged composition entitled sci fry, laid out over eight minutes with snaking synth whirrs, sweeping dub echoes and tumbling sub bass tones before bass culture head-honcho djulz reworks the original into a more robust, groove-drive interpretation via swinging rhythms, stuttering sample chops and a thunderous low end drive. moonberry opens the flip side on a more reduced tip with bumpy organic percussion, rounded sub swells and an amalgamation of sonar blip melodies to create a dynamic and hypnotic workout, time traveller then closes the release via expansive atmospherics, subtly evolving acidic synth licks and loose shuffling drums

known for their take on the gentler side of house music, jazz pianists, electronic enthusiasts and label founders of the analogue attic imprint, albrecht labrooy have joined night tides family with their latest sojourn emissary ep. the release began with a concept from the artists, who asked for field recordings taken by night tides eluize from around her adopted home in berlin. sounds from parks, gardens, trains and stations that make up the local, everyday sonic landscape made their way across the atlantic to arrive in albrecht labrooys studio, where they were used as inspiration for the three outings on this record. the melbourne duo�s live approach to programming and arrangement can be heard as the tracks ebb and flow effortlessly. in tempelhof sub swells and a throbbing kick accompany delicate leads and lightly touched drums. the more uptempo hinterhof pulses and sways with lively percussion, crystalline bells, euphoric strings and softly spoken melodies that float in and out of view. u-bahn/s-bahn begins with glistening top lines and panoramic chords over a growling bass and a steady groove. as the journey rolls on from the underground into open-air window-gazing territory, the piece takes an ambient, beatless turn. contemplative synth lines and arpeggios play while the station announcements drift somewhere in the distance. photograph by christophe mauberqué.

taking charge of the first release is lucy, who has evolved his distinct sound signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology. whether he is acting in the role of producer, dj, performer, or stroboscopic artefacts curator, lucys clear passion for creative evolution and mutation is something that continues to attract new listeners, and keeps giving his current supporters new reasons to continue tuning in. ep opener the hermit is eight minutes of spacious and cerebral techno. rolling drums are buried deep as little flecks of sound design peel off the groove. occasional bell hits bring a sombre and languid feel despite the drive of the drums, and it is the sort of perfectly absorbing track that will suck you down a 5am rabbit hole. on the flip, �the high priestess� is a similarly mental work out that is empty and eerie, with distant drones and yawning pads outlining a vast underground space. the drums here are again rubbery and rolling, but a little more prominent, and the whole thing manages to be both soothing and unsettling. after this fine ep starts the label in style, a remix ep from blawan will follow.

following his first ep for accidental jnr in the summer bambooman is now back with something entirely different. the downtempo experimental designs of the �feel ep� give way to his latest offering �shudder�. available on 12� and digital the 4 tracks of shudder weave through a club music tapestry like a chainsaw through custard. the opening and title track is hard to describe, a mix of off kilter synth stabs and hammering snare that routes you to the floor - it�s one of those tracks to whip out of your bag to remind the crowd they have no idea what is coming next. track 2 �grasp� with a blissful detroit groove under deep rich melting chords is a perfect blend of early funk house style and super crisp new production. side b opens with �m1� a lazy floor track with washes of bells, static and detuned synth above a bed of solid kick and shuffling bass. finally �kyrian� closes proceedings, another club friendly slice (despite being in a 7&#8260.8 time signature), the track could have led the ep in its own right but feels like the perfect bookend with its shifting almost garage like 2-step feel and glancing vocal hook.

a regular contributor to figure spc, it was jeroen search who both started the series and also put an end to its story. with this creative chapter neatly closed, he is now bringing his ever-impressive work back to the main label. across the ep the dutch artist doesn�t stick to one style, instead he lets his infamous machines roam about freely. they take us for a smooth ride along swaying dub chords and gentle ripples until bellowing eches slowly rise above a hypnotic groove.?on the b-side search then pulls out all the stops and barges right in with fidgety claps and whirling bleeps, leaving the track itself gasping for air. this is the renowned ferocity of his live act - carved into wax! ensuing the sonic assault, a simple synth figure emerges stoically over an almost housy bounce as nostalgic rave strings bring the ep to an epic ending. firmly rooted in the past while always looking forward, jeroen search clearly is still on the top of his game. he simply keeps coming up with timeless techno - time and time again.

it�s time for local talk to go local again with another swedish producer, eric ericsson. with numerous releases out in labels like planet e, fragile and freerange he�s one of those producers with one foot in the techno scene and another in the more soulful house scene. basically, he s not a one trick pony! for his release on local talk we would say he lands somewhere between classic chi-town house and thumping nyc house groove but without sounding too retro or washed out. its simply real house music! we begin with love it, a real bumpy house track with analogue basslines and swinging fender grooves that will work both stateside and in the european house clubs. the second track the chi is as the title suggest a homage to chicago with a slight old school boo williams fee. - dope! but thats not all, to give the release a broader twist we got man of the moment oskar offerman (berlin) to remix love it for us. oskar goes more deep with his trademark sound and gives us a dark mix that will sound amazing in your favourite berlin club of choice.

originally from tunisia, anamorph is one of those great explorers who travel the world in search of new influences, finding inspiration in romania after a few years of living in bucharest, he presents fapte with 2 original tracks to match the identity of the label:
side a of this white vinyl consists of one original mix - sub constienta - with an uplifting baseline, with industrial background textures complete with mesmerizing synths that make your body vibrate to the groove.
on side b, swing altfel is a track that tells the story differently, taking the listener on a long journey thru the sound. just like the exquisite painting of painter leonid afremov, the track it self has many sounds combining one on top of the other in a progressive release of the right amount of joyful vibe, with passages and percussions mixed with tweaked vocals, giving this track the perfect rithm.

the latest installment of roam recordings comes from the japanese disco scene via the production duo of internationally acclaimed dj que sakamoto and seasoned studio engineer nt. the title track lalo is an original production with a stylish edit of an obscure vocal. this slow paced groove has a lot to offer with its bells chiming, synths drifting, and peppered in vocal that brings it all together.

after his successful �i�m made of stars� lp last year, michele pinna brings his time traveler moniker back to his chronicles diary imprint with �chapter v: chronicles from 1957�. following the label�s concept �chapter v� is dedicated to his mother anna maria and time is being stretched back to her birth, where past and future seem to collide through time traveler�s dystopian vision of techno. a1 opens the ep with an industrial killer groove and time traveler�s distorted vocals prompting to follow him in an out of control journey. a2 rushes in with a more mental and compulsive beat, where synths and percussions converge. on the flip side, we find b1 infused with hypnotic modular melodies and intense rolling analog grooves. b2 concludes time traveler�s journey with its finally crafted, hammering beats, ecstatic bass synths and drum patters.

this classic deep house jam was huge in its original form when it landed on som underground back in 2000, and then it went on to receive the remix treatment from artists as widely respected as 2000 & one and christopher groove. aside from the official remixes, the likes of luciano took the accapella for a ride and created infamous bootlegs that took the scene by storm, whether soundtracking an intimate club throwdown or a blissed-out ibiza terrace moment. now, more than fifteen years on from the original release, it s time to revisit a stone cold classic and call in a fresh interpretation. berlin-based tony lionni has already scored countless essential deep house releases for freerange, madhouse, modelisme, mule musiq and versatile amongst many others. his warm, slow-grooving approach suits the mood of pachanga s laconic vocal delivery perfectly, but behind the mellow veneer there s a powerful, soundsystem-ready punch to the track that demonstrates why lionni has risen to be such an in demand producer over the years

starting in 1990 recording for sheffield label ozone records under the name of panic with a release called voices of energy, which was then licensed to buzz in belgium, buzz 001, buzz then went on to release classics by carl craig and derrick may. he set up his own label in the same year solid groove records. the label had 30 vinyl releases over thirteen years and tracks were licensed by derrick may, terry francis, pete tong, adam x, and carl cox.as well as this he ran another four other label s, textures, dark, dot, and cheap knob gags.

theres a certain ancient mystery to the melodies and feeling of purple hills. gentle, secret, ethereal moods that float invisibly in the spaces its played in. echoes of a familiar dream reverberate behind closed eyes that always remain slightly out of your grasp. chriss vogt�s trip takes you away to that place. a place though that only he knew existed.. until now. yokoo continues to create his own unique vibe. he expressed his love for the track when all day i dream visited morocco. with its groovier approach, it slowly creeps into the consciousness. a crisp drum groove and just a hint at the original�s dominant melodies create a understated new version slightly left of centre. chriss teams up with patrick jeremic for pour eternel. its always summer somewhere and it s dreamy essence charms the listener here. classy house music to take us through winter in the northern hemisphere.

this is the fourth ep the paris legends dan ghenacia and chris carrier have made together over the last year, and it�s just as fresh as their previous efforts with plenty of bounce, depth and funk. first up on the a-side is �the blue grass�, a deeply sensual cut with a potent low end. therein lies the groove, which is utterly captivating � made to get you writhing with glee, this one is aimed straight at the hips. alongside that sleazy bassline we have jazzy notes, swinging percussion and otherworldly bleeps and chirps. all of which makes it a great intro to this sterling ep. on the flip side, we have �blue stick�, another ridiculously groovy riddim with warped voices floating above a set of crispy beats and a raw undercurrent of emotion. minimal in composition, and the effect is deadly. lastly, to close out the three-tracker, it�s �kind of blues� (can you spot the theme here?!). when it starts off, this one is a stomper with a moody expression. the beats are hefty, the bass morose and the analogue effects strangely cosmic. more twisted vocals are filtered in the background, giving this one its weird hook. the vocal reveals itself in the breakdown midway through before the track bounds on to its finale. dan ghenacia and chris carrier deliver three firebombs, perfect dance floor material with tight grooves and killer production. would you expect anything less?! go get em�

super limited taster 12- from detroit based vocalist extraordinaire nikki o ! recent collaborative efforts have brought nikki back into the limelight, following her stunning mini lp on moodymann s mahogani music back in 2005 very little information available on this one, we know only that it s a one-off ahead of a wider released project - but safe to say it s a superb 12-, featuring two versions of new track gotta believe a thumpin house rub sits on the a side, floating the distinctive badu style delivery over a perfectly pitched groove on the flip, we re treated to an inspired rework of an underground boogie gem which suits the vocal like it was meant to be ! first come first served on this one folks - destined for big things !

while unveiling the * mutant tournament* quartet last year, label boss nachtbraker was quietly hunting for new music behind the scenes. being the fine huntsman he is, he came out of the woods with sonic bits and bobs so delectable he had no choice but to spread them out over two brand new quartets. thats right, eight records in total, to be released over the course of the next 18 months. were delighted to introduce you to scott franka, whos at the helm of the first missive. this creative head from amsterdam has been making music since the tender age of 11, but it wasnt until he adopted his scott franka moniker that he really found his groove.

�mirror test� conjures that rare mood between darkness and elation, contemplation and celebration, and drives it home with an infectious, jacking rhythm section which recalls the late-80s ny club music of boyd jarvis and paul simpson, and labels like easy street and fourth floor, but imbues the sound with a toughness and precision only possible today. analog synth figures, glassy and angular, ricochet around the track, trading jabs with funky snare work and robotic, stabby chord patterns to create a hook-laden machine groove which demands repeated listening.
the record�s b-side feature, �replace yourself,� is the subtler, dreamier, more futuristic of the two. unmistakably urban with its swinging, bottom-heavy groove and strange, architectural chord work, it seduces and transports. �replace yourself� dares you to do exactly that.
